Bruce Irvin and Richard Sherman were once teammates and it can be assumed that the two are friends. After the news broke over the weekend that Sherman is joining the San Francisco 49ers, Irvin couldn’t help but go online and poke fun at his former teammate.

It was kind of funny.

It wasn’t that long ago that Sherman brought an end to the Super Bowl dreams of the 49ers with a spectacular play in the end zone during the final moments of the 2013 NFC Championship game. Sherman deflected what would have been the game-winning touchdown pass from Colin Kaepernick to Michael Crabtree into the hands of Malcolm Smith for an interception.

Sherman proceeded to mock Crabtree by trying to shake his hand afterward. During his postgame interview he rubbed it in a little more saying (CNN):

“Well, I'm the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result you gonna get! Don't you ever talk about me!” “Don't you open your mouth about the best, or y'know I'm gonna shut it for you real quick! L.O.B.!”

With that in mind, it does seem a little odd that the 49ers sign him. But the front office, coaching staff, and much of the roster has turned over since then. So, there are few around who could or may hold a grudge.

Irvin moved on from the Seahawks after the 2015 season. The Seahawks decided not to pick up the option on his rookie contract and he joined the Raiders prior to the 2016 season.
