There are still a lot of questions about how Jon Gruden will work out with the Oakland Raiders. Something the modern NFL game has passed him by and he has received a lot of criticism for some of the personnel moves he made this offseason. There is one guy who is in line to really reap the benefits of what Gruden can teach, Derek Carr. Gruden has been known as a quarterback guru and he should really help Carr take the next step in his game and the system should be great for Carr's development.

Carr admits that losing Jack Del Rio was tough but when he found out the team was going to get Gruden all he could do was thank owner Mark Davis.

“I just said thank you for, you know, for just believing in me,” Carr told ESPN after Tuesday's joint practice with the Detroit Lions. “After you let a coach go, it is always tough, because I love coach (Jack) Del Rio, I love coach (Todd) Downing and it's like, ‘Dang, man, what's next?'

“So for (Davis) to go get coach Gruden, we have to take the next step and it's like, well, you know, if we had to do it, well thank you for bringing someone in that believes in me, wants to teach me, wants me to be better. So absolutely, man, I thank Mr. Davis and Mr. (Reggie) McKenzie all the time.”

Carr is going to need to have a big season for the Raiders to have success but it's also going to come down to the other guys behind him. Carr can put the team on his back but that won't be enough if they want to meet the expectations that Gruden is hyping.
