Gareon Conley had the entire Oakland Raiders and the NFL in shock and awe after the horrific injury he suffered in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.

However, the latest development on the player's condition is painting a better picture for the Raiders secondary.

The Raiders have done their checks on Conley. Fortunately, they have confirmed that the corner's condition is looking better by the day. There's a good chance that he will be able to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

“I’m glad to say that Gareon Conley seems to be doing okay,” head coach Jon Gruden said during a Tuesday press conference, per NBC Sports' Scott Bair. “I think there’s a chance he might be able to play this week, but we’ll have to update his status.”

Gruden also took to Twitter to express his support and calm the nerves of the Raiders fans.

He was involved in a horrific crash with teammate Johnathan Abram during the team's 24-16 triumph over the Broncos. The rookie safety's leg swung around, pushing the cornerback's head down. It was enough to make even the strongest player wince in pain.

Players and pundits who got to see the incident were understandably concerned for the cornerback. There were chances that the injury would have been serious and required extensive time off the field.

This is why it's fortunate that the team doctors haven't found any serious issue with the corner's neck. He played an incredible 2018 with the Raiders, notching three interceptions and a pick-six for the Silver and Black.

If Conley manages to prove his fitness to the team, he will a big boon to the Raiders when they welcome the Raiders in Week 2. After all, their opponents have a dangerous quarterback in Patrick Mahomes.

Having Conley in the secondary will help reduce his effectiveness on the field.
