Following days of speculation, the Oakland Raiders on Monday finally pulled the trigger on a trade that sent former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick.

In wake of the move, head coach Jon Gruden has voiced that the team will not be trading any other players with their eyes set on being competitive for the rest of the season beginning with Week 8 action against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Since the start of the season, things have continued to head in an odd direction for Oakland beyond the team's porous play on the field. The handling of All-Pro defensive end Khalil Mack's contract situation set the table for how things have been handled with the franchise. There had initially been the expectation that the Raiders would work things out with Mack, but the team didn't budge with Gruden at the forefront of the team holding pat and deciding to trade him to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a few high draft picks including a pair of 2019 first-round selections.

What has been quite strange about it all is that Gruden has quickly sailed the ship with Cooper as he had stated all throughout the offseason that the 24-year-old would be a centerpiece to their offense, but instead things had quickly changed as the season wore on. Although Cooper struggled to play with consistency, he has the talent to be a legitimate No.1 wide receiver like he had shown in his first two seasons in the league with back-to-back Pro Bowl nods while tallying more than 1,000 receiving yards.

This seemingly shifts over the eyes on Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr's future with the franchise as he has notably struggled with his issues becoming more prevalent with each passing week. At some point, Gruden could take another major step in putting his fingerprints on the franchise.
