The Oakland Raiders made the big splash move to start their offseason with the decision to bring back Jon Gruden as their next head coach.

This has put Gruden back in the league for the first time in nearly a decade to help bring the Raiders back to prominence after a disappointing 2017 campaign. Given the situation, OddsShark has placed him among one of the top betting odds to be the first coach to be fired this upcoming season.

It should be noted that he has the same odds as two of the league's most established coaches in Baltimore Ravens' John Harbaugh and Seattle Seahawks' Pete Carroll. Each of these coaches has gone through their fair share of difficulties this past year with both missing the playoffs.

Gruden is entering a situation where he has quickly made an impact on the franchise by shaping the roster over the offseason through the draft and free agency. His players have also voiced much praise in his direction for how he has handled things and the culture that he has begun to implement.

Although there are some concerns given that he has been out of the league for nearly 10 years, it may be the landing spot that he could progressively make that transition to how the game is played now. The Raiders have a talented roster that features one of the rising stars in Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr, who is just two seasons removed from his MVP-caliber campaign.

Meanwhile, the front office has added more proven talent on both sides of the ball with wide receivers Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant, linebacker Derek Johnson, safety Marcus Gilchrist, cornerback Rashaan Melvin, and running back Doug Martin. It is simply something that only time will tell if this decision to bring aboard Gruden was the right decision to move the Raiders forward.
