Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs had a mystery surgery on Christmas Day, but it's not expected to have any effect on his status for Sunday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Jacobs posted on Instagram a picture in a hospital gown with the caption “Surgery went great, fastest surgery ever.” It's still unclear at this point exactly what the surgery was for, but it must be pretty minor if there is still a chance he could play against the Denver Broncos. Jacobs has missed two of the last three games with a shoulder injury and it was unclear before this surgery if he was going to be able to play.

If he can't go it will be DeAndre Washington who would step in and take over the starting role. Against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Raiders' last game, he rushed 23 times for 85 yards. It's a bit of a step down with the season Jacobs has had if he can't go, but Washington could have another big game in this one.

The Raiders are still technically alive for a playoff spot, but they need a lot of things to go right on Sunday. The Raiders need to start by taking care of business against the Denver Broncos. They also need the Indianapolis Colts to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. the Baltimore Ravens to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Tennessee Titans to lose to the Houston Texans.

If all those things happen, the Raiders will be the sixth seed in the AFC and play on Wild Card weekend.
