The Oakland Raiders have reportedly verbally agreed to trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
After what's been a wild saga surrounding Brown, it appears as though the Raiders were willing to take a risk on bringing in the talented wideout.
It was initially reported that Brown would be traded to the Buffalo Bills, but that deal didn't happen due to his unwillingness to join the franchise.
And now, he seems to be on his way to Oakland, according to Brown himself before Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed.
According to Rapoport, the Raiders are giving up a third and fifth-round pick for Brown. As part of the trade, Oakland is also adding money to the three years left on his contract, bumping it up from $38.925 million to $50.125 million, per Florio. $30.125 million of that money is guaranteed, whereas previously Brown had $0 in guarantees.
It was obvious that someone was going to take a chance on him despite the way things unfolded with the Steelers.
Brown had 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, and he now has 11,207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns at this point in his career.
While his talent on the field is clear, most people are still curious as to how he will fit in off the field with his new team.
When he's happy, he's clearly one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. But when he's not happy, there are plenty of unknowns as to how he'll respond.
Either way, it's a trade that the Steelers had to make as they'll turn their focus to trying to improve their roster so that they can be a Super Bowl contender once again.
