The Oakland Raiders are finalizing a deal to sign free-agent wide receiver Jordy Nelson, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Raiders trying to finalize deal today for former Packers’ WR Jordy Nelson, who still is in Oakland, sources tell ESPN. “This is going to get done,” one source said of the talks. Nelson on his way to becoming a Raider.

Nelson, 33, was recently released by the Green Bay Packers after 10 years with the team as he declined to take a pay cut. He made his first free-agent visit to Oakland on Wednesday and did not leave the city with the hope of getting a deal done. Apparently, he’s about to get it.

Nelson is coming off one of his worst seasons in a long while in 2017. The veteran receiver had just 53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns for the Packers. His production took a precipitous dip once Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone.

But prior to that down year, he had 97 catches for 1,257 receiving yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns in his first year back from a torn ACL in 2016. Nelson has recorded 1,200 or more receiving yards in four of the last six years.

Nelson’s impending arrival on the Raiders will likely spell the end for Michael Crabtree's time in Oakland. The veteran wide receiver is also coming off a disappointing year and is a prime candidate to get cut due to his significant $7.7 million cap hit. If Crabtree is indeed released, Nelson would take his place as quarterback Derek Carr’s secondary receiving option behind Amari Cooper.
