The Oakland Raiders wrapped a disappointing 2017 campaign with a crushing 30-10 loss to AFC West division rival Los Angeles Chargers.

It didn't take much time for the Raiders to make a major decision by parting ways with head coach Jack Del Rio, according to Albert Breer of SI.com.

Del Rio had been at the helm for the Raiders over the last three years holding a 25-23 record over that span. This included helping lead the team to their first playoff berth since 2002 with a 12-4 record last season.

The 54-year-old had signed a four-year contract extension back in February, but with the Raiders taking a step back this season missing the playoffs finishing with 6-10 record led to his firing.

With a month left in the season, Oakland was in the hunt to not only earn a playoff spot but also win the AFC West. Unfortunately, they fell well short of winning that division title which ultimately went to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The firing of Del Rio now immediately spikes up the talks of Jon Gruden possibly rejoining the franchise as the next head coach. There are reports that the possible offer to Gruden could include some stake in ownership with the team. Gruden coached the Raiders for four seasons where he held a 38-26 record that includes a pair of playoff appearances, two AFC West division titles, and a trip to the AFC Championship game.
