After reports emerged indicating free-agent linebacker Will Compton was working out for a few teams this week, it didn't take long for the 32-year-old to find a new gig. And who better to break the news than Compton himself?

Compton took to Twitter to reveal that he's headed back to the Raiders, having signed a deal to join Las Vegas for the rest of the season.

Well, that's about as good of a source as you can get when it pertains to breaking NFL news.

The move comes at a crucial time for the Raiders, who could be without linebackers Cory Littleton and Patrick Onwuasor for their Week 14 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Littleton is dealing with an undisclosed injury, while Onwuasor is nursing an ailing hamstring.

The addition of the veteran linebacker could help stabilize Las Vegas' defense ahead of what should be a dog fight with the rival Chiefs.

Compton, 32, is an eight-year NFL veteran. He went undrafted out of Nebraska but latched on with Washington in 2013. Come 2014 he was a key piece on their offensive line, and would later become an everyday starter. He joined the Tennessee Titans in 2018 before moving to Oakland in 2019. He returned to the Titans in 2020 for a second stint with the team before remaining unsigned in 2021. A need for a familiar face arose within the Raiders' defense, however, and Compton will help provide cover while the team gets healthy.

Compton has played in 90 games throughout his career, starting 40. He has 357 tackles, four fumble recoveries and one sack throughout his career.
