Andrew Whitworth will return for a 15th season.

The 38-year-old offensive lineman signed a three-year, $30 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. The veteran offensive tackle opted against retirement, re-signing for a fourth season with the Rams.

The oldest player on the Rams' roster recently opened up about his decision to return.

“I mean, amazing [to be back],” Whitworth said on a video conference call with local media Thursday.“That was the goal all along. If I wanted to return and play, I wanted to stay here and play. Once I decided for sure and got the OK from family and everybody else that we were going to play football again, there was no other place I wanted to be than here.”

Whitworth also spoke of his impact in the team's locker room.

“To me, that's something I think my entire career has been built around. Really trying to support guys, be there for guys and make a difference in my room. And hopefully help those guys have great careers,” Whitworth said.

While there is no guarantee that Whitworth will play out the remainder of his contract, he did say he will continue to take it year-by-year. He also stated that he'll play “as long as there’s always a desire to play and always a desire to train.”

The LSU product originally entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick back in 2006. He played the first 11 seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, protecting quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton's blind sides. Over the course of his career, he's started 211 of the 215 games he has appeared in.

During his three seasons in Los Angeles, Whitworth has started every game with the exception of one.
