The Cleveland Browns made another huge statement Monday when they made Denzel Ward the highest-paid cornerback via a brand new contract extension. The deal will see Ward join Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey as the only other DB in football making nine figures, and Ramsey took to Twitter to celebrate Ward's monumental deal, and show some love to the newest member of the $100M club.

The Rams star doesn't seem to feel slighted that he's no longer the highest-paid cornerback in football. He congratulated Ward on securing the bag, telling the Browns' star that he “definitely deserves it.”

Ward's new five-year contract extension will see the DB remain in Cleveland for the next six seasons. The Browns will pay him a total of $100.5 million, with a staggering $71.25 million in guaranteed money. The 24-year-old's deal surpassed Ramsey's to make the title of highest-paid CB in NFL history his own.

Ramsey is currently operating under a five-year, $100 million deal with the Rams, so he was outdone by Ward by a margin of just $500,000. Ramsey's deal also saw him pocket $71.2 million in guaranteed money, suspiciously less than the $71.25 million Ward is guaranteed. Clearly, getting the title of highest-paid cornerback was something Ward valued during his negotiations with the Browns.

Ramsey is under contract with the Rams through 2026, though he has an opt-out after the 2024 season. Ward, on the other hand, will remain with the Browns through the 2027 season. Comparing these two star cornerbacks for the next half-decade will surely be a treat for NFL fans considering the similarities in their contracts.

Despite all that, Ramsey is happy for his league-mate and fellow DB for landing his deal, hopefully paving the way for more money at the position in the future.
