There has been plenty of excitement around the Los Angeles Rams since the acquisition of wide receiver Sammy Watkins from the Buffalo Bill last Friday.

According to Alex Marvez of Sporting News, the Rams are taking precautionary measures to make sure their new prized receiving threat stays healthy.

“The shoe thing is a very big deal,” Snead told co-host Brady Quinn and me on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “There’s a lot of technology, a lot of smart engineers developing shoes for these athletes, especially based on the type of torque and pressure they’re putting on their bones when you go in and out of a break.”

Through his first three seasons in the league, Watkins struggled with health that includes several leg injuries including a pair of surgeries on his left foot. The latest occurred last offseason when he required a screw to be inserted into his foot that led to him missing eight games in the 2016 season.

When healthy, Watkins has proven to be quite a productive player as he's recorded 153 receptions for 2,459 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in 37 total games played through his first three years. He is also just two years removed from his best campaign in 2015 where had a career-high 1,047 receiving yards on 60 receptions and nine touchdowns.

Watkins has an opportunity to become the No.1 wide receiver in the Rams' passing game that could play a huge part in second-year quarterback Jared Goff's development. There is clearly a lot riding on his shoulders to become a major piece to the puzzle in Los Angeles.
