Freshly-crowned NBA champion Danny Green of the Toronto Raptors is hoping to keep the confetti going with a rain of dollar bills this summer, seeking a four-year deal as he enters free agency in a few days.

The three-and-D commodity was the second most efficient 3-point shooter in the league this past season, shooting a career-best 45.5% from deep and now looking to capitalize on that for the long term.

“This is the time where I’m getting older now, so I think I probably want to get as many years as possible,” Green told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “Because as I get even older, I don’t think there will be many teams offering me that kind of longevity or as much money. I think this is the time where I need to maximize the dollars on the longest amount of years that I can do. I would definitely love to get four years, ideally. But, obviously, I’m 32 years old now, so some teams may not want to offer a four-year deal. But I’d love a three-year or four-year deal.”

As Green pointed out, teams are being more cautious than ever when doling out big money to older free agents and the recently-turned 32-year-old swingman would like to capitalize on that small window of opportunity.

The likes of LeBron James and Chris Paul have received four-year deals in their early 30s, but non-star players hardly ever have that luck. Fortunately for Green, his shooting and basketball IQ should age gracefully, allowing his to eke out a living on the hardwood as long as he remains healthy.
