Drake, Montrezl Harrell get heated with trash talk in Raptors’ blowout loss to Wizards

Drake Montrezl Harrell Drake Raptors Wizards

The Toronto Raptors played their first real home game in over a year to open the season, so of course Drake was there sitting courtside.

The Toronto-based rapper was probably miffed as the Raptors were blown out of the water by the Washington Wizards for most of the game. But despite not taking the court or putting on a jersey, he was able to coax a technical foul out of the Wizards’ Montrezl Harrell leading to a free foul shot.

Check out Trez go at the referee who gave him a tech while Drake just laughed on the Raptors sideline:

Drake’s extra-curricular contribution was definitely appreciated as the Raptors needed all the help they could get in this one. But unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get his hometown team the win.

Toronto found themselves down by double-digits for most of this game. If not for a spirited run buoyed by their long-limbed defense in the fourth quarter, the deficit would’ve been larger than the 83-98 final score suggests.

But despite falling to 0-1, both Drake and the Raptors have a lot to be excited about with this roster. Youngsters Scottie Barnes and Dalano Banton showed flashes of being true difference-makers as they made their presence felt both on offense and defense.

Toronto’s main weapons in OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet won’t be as inefficient going forward as they were tonight. The Raptors may go through some growing pains with their young roster, but they have nowhere to go but up.
