Sources say that unrestricted free agent Greg Monroe may be the man the Toronto Raptors are looking at to fill the final spot on their roster. Although nothing has been finalized yet, it is possible that Monroe will be part of a new-look Raptors squad entering the 2018-19 season, as reported by Josh Lewenberg of TSN.

The highly-publicized deal that sent cornerstone player DeMar DeRozan, incoming third-year big man Jakob Poeltl, and a future pick to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green is not the only offseason move the front office has made this summer.

The Raptors were also successful in re-signing Sixth Man of the Year contender Fred VanVleet to a two-year, $18 million extension, ensuring the firepower of their second unit remained intact. Point guard Lorenzo Brown also inked a one-year deal, bringing their roster count to 13.

Monroe is reportedly being considered as the 14th member of the squad, and although he brings nothing new to the table for the Raptors in terms of defense, he is still a formidable scorer from inside. Should Toronto decide to bring him in, he should be able to contribute offensively — and on the boards as well — to VanVleet and the rest of the second unit.

Despite a sub-par showing over the past two seasons, Monroe is just 28 years old and still has a lot of basketball ahead of him. He also used to be a double-double threat on any given night, and a change in scenery could prove to be beneficial for the 6-foot-11 big man.
