Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.

Leonard sat out the Raptors' game against the Miami Heat on Sunday due to load management. The All-Star forward has sat out multiple games this season for the same reason as the team continues to monitor his health.

A former Finals MVP, Leonard missed most of last season due to a quad injury.

The Raptors currently own the second-best record in the league, and with a playoff berth officially sealed, they are taking all the necessary measures to preserve Leonard and make sure he's 100 percent ready for the playoffs.

In Leonard's absence, Patrick McCaw has been inserted into the starting lineup.

Toronto can sit out Leonard against the Cavaliers, knowing that they're one of the worst teams in the league. However, they could get fined by the league office for sitting out a healthy player.

Leonard isn't dealing with any injuries at the moment. He's simply being given occasional rest days to limit the possibility of him getting a major injury heading into the playoffs. The Raptors have spent the entire season constructing a championship caliber team, and their title aspirations would take a major hit if Kawhi gets injured before their quest for it could even begin.

It is expected that Leonard will continue to sit out some of Toronto's remaining games, according to head coach Nick Nurse.
