The NBA is one of the professional sports leagues in the world today, where athletes get paid the most. Thanks to a very lucrative T.V deal they closed a couple of seasons ago, it has allowed their teams to pay their players huge amounts of money for their services. However, even with their big salaries, player contracts still include clauses that could make them earn more money if they meet specific criteria. From recording a specific number for a particular statistic, being named to All-Star teams, to playing a minimum number of games or minutes in a season, these are the more popular clauses added to deals players sign.
Toronto Raptors star guard Kyle Lowry also has clauses in his contract, and recently met the second part of it, resulting to him becoming $200,000 richer. After his fourth All-Star selection, he has recently played his 65th game of the season, allowing him to pocket the extra earning, according to Bobby Marks of ESPN.

Now in his 12th season in the league, Lowry is still playing at a high level, and being considered as one of the best point guards today. However, he has also been injury prone throughout his career, which could explain why he has such clause in his contract. For what it’s worth, it definitely worked well for him, serving as a challenge to play even better, as well put more importance in taking care of his body and health in order to see action in more games, which is a win-win situation for him and the Raptors.
