Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri noted he will talk to Pascal Siakam's agent during Summer League in hopes of hammering out a contract extension, according to Blake Murphy of The Athletic.

Siakam is fresh off a breakthrough season, one that earned him Most Improved Player honors on Monday's NBA Awards show.

A 2016 first round pick (27th overall selection), Siakam showed massive strides (figuratively and literally) from his second year to his most recent, posting 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.

The 25-year-old quickly emerged as a rotation piece for new coach Nick Nurse and rapidly became a dependable scoring option after improving his 3-point shooting to the mark of 36.9% on the season.

Siakam's torrid transition game is one the Raptors used to flourish in the postseason, playing fast and barreling their way to wins through their playoff run.

Siakam improved in several areas this past season, from his post-up play, to his ball-handling and decision-making — improvements that eventually consolidated into a big chance for minutes and channeled his surge as a starter and secondary scoring option after Kawhi Leonard.

The Cameroonian product made only $1.5 million in his third year in the league and needless to say, he's due for a much-needed raise in his upcoming extension.

Siakam will make $2.4 million in 2019-20 and has a cap hold of $3.5 million as a potential restricted free agent in 2020.
