While the Toronto Raptors are set to make the play-in tournament and compete for the chance to make the postseason, there's been no shortage of drama around this team all season. From injuries to integral players to the ongoing trade rumors leading up to the deadline in February, the Raps seem to always be a topic of conversation. That's made current head coach Nick Nurse re-think his future, saying he plans to take a few weeks to see where he's at when the campaign officially ends.
Via ESPN:
“First of all, I think when this season gets done, we'll evaluate everything, and even personally, I'm gonna take a few weeks to see where I'm at, you know?” Nurse said. “Like you said, where my head's at. And just see how the relationship with the organization is and everything. It's been 10 years for me now, which is a pretty good run. I don't know, over those 10 years we got to be up there in number of wins with anybody in the league. I don't know even know where that is, but we've had a lot of big seasons.”
However, Nurse made it clear he's focused on helping Toronto get as far as humanly possible in the playoffs:
“And then, right now, my head is to make this as long of a season as possible. This team needs playoff experience. So that is where I'm at right now … finish out these six, see where we land, see if we can't creep up a spot or two in the standings, and then give them hell in the playoffs, see if we can get in a real series and take it from there.”
Nick Nurse has been with the Raptors for 10 years now and of course, led them to a championship in 2019 with the help of Kawhi Leonard.
Nurse didn't say if he'd consider a job elsewhere either, he's simply going to just sit back and re-evaluate. He owns a 224-160 record in charge, taking over as HC in the 2018-19 title-winning campaign.
