Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors tipped his hat to his late father after winning the NBA Most Improved Player Award.

Siakam, who hails from Cameroon, says that he's simply blessed that he made his father's dream become a reality.

Per Bleacher Report:

“He had this crazy dream. People back home never believed in him, and he always believed.”

In the 2018-2019 season, Siakam, 25, improved on his game as evidenced by his averages. In his third year in the league, Siakam averaged 16.9 points per game (up from 7.3), 6.9 rebounds (up from 4.5), 3.1 assists (up from 2.0). He also shot at a 54.9 percent clip (up from 50.8) from the field, 78.5 percent from the free throw line (up from 62.1), and 36.9 percent from deep (up from 22.0). His stark improvement turned him into one of the critical pieces of the Raptors' championship squad.

Pascal Siakam was the 27th overall pick by the Raptors in 2016. In his rookie campaign, he spent some time with the Raptors' G League Affiliate, the Raptors 905. He led the team to the G League championship and was crowned the Finals MVP.

Indeed, Pascal Siakam has fulfilled his and his father's dreams of making it to the NBA. Not just that, but Siakam is slowly making a name for himself. Previous winners of the NBA Most Improved Player Award have gone on to become superstars. Siakam might not be an exception to that fact, but instead become yet another embodiment of it. His growth mirrored Toronto's growth over the course of the past NBA season.
