The expectation around Ben Simmons is that his time in Philadelphia is coming to an end. The 76ers point forward has been the most likely star on the move among the big names mentioned in the rumor mill this offseason. While the usual suspects like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors have been named as potential landing spots for Ben Simmons, there's one team out East that could swoop in for the Sixers star: the Toronto Raptors.

NBA insider Marc J. Spears appeared on Chad Ford's NBA Big Board podcast to talk about where the 3-time All-Star could be headed. According to the veteran reporter, the Toronto Raptors have emerged as a contender for the polarizing Sixers star.

“Toronto's another team I've heard that's expressed some interest in trying to find a way to get Ben.”

It wouldn't be the first time that the Raptors could come in as a dark horse contender for a star on the move. Toronto wasn't exactly the frontrunner to make the now-legendary Kawhi Leonard trade that brought them their first championship.

While circumstances aren't identical, Raptors GM Masai Ujiri isn't afraid to take risks. Safe to say he'll be working the phones with Daryl Morey to try and see if the Sixers might be willing to send Ben Simmons north of the border.
