Toronto Raptors point guard Delon Wright has suffered a dislocated right shoulder, according to TSN Sports’ Josh Lewenberg. While the team is still awaiting further test results, Wright is expected to miss some time due to the injury.

Wright sustained the injury in first half of the Raptors’ 125-116 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday after colliding with Pelicans big man DeMarcus Cousins. He exited the game and did not return.

Wright suffered the same injury on his right shoulder in the summer of 2016, one which required surgery and saw him sidelined for five months.

The third-year point guard has seen his role increase significantly this season as the primary backup to All-Star Kyle Lowry. He’s averaging 8.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 21.7 minutes through 13 games, and had a season-high 14 points in Toronto’s win over the Houston Rockets.

With Wright likely to miss some time, Fred VanVleet will take over at backup point guard. The sophomore is averaging 4.5 points and 2.1 assists in 15.4 minutes per game this season. He scored 10 points with three assists in a season-high 22 minutes after Wright went down against the Pelicans.

Lorenzo Brown could also be called up from the G-League to provide more depth at the position.
