In the days/hours leading to the trade deadline last February, the Toronto Raptors were definitely one of the most active teams. They were committed to going all in this season, and looked prepared to do what had to be done in order to help them in their quest.

However, one reported potential trade deal — which obviously never came into fruition — was recently shot down by The Athletic's Shams Charania, who explained why a rumored deal involving Kylw Lowry and Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley never really came close to completion.

[Raptors president Masai] Ujiri told reporters after the trade deadline that Lowry had been aware of trade conversations that involved his name; notably scenarios discussed with the Memphis Grizzlies that included Mike Conley Jr. and Marc Gasol.

Toronto ultimately traded for Gasol, but a deal sending Lowry out was never close, league sources said. Hundreds of frameworks of deals are discussed by all 30 NBA teams during trade deadline season, and many never see the light.

At one point, it seemed that almost everybody on the Raptors' roster was available, save for newly-crowned cornerstone superstar Kawhi Leonard.

Lowry was indeed reportedly on the table, but as reported by Charania here, the Toronto front office were not willing to ship him off to Memphis in exchange for Conley.

The Raptors made a lot of big moves this year, and based on how they have fared in the postseason thus far, it appears that they pulled off all the right deals.
