The Baltimore Ravens lost a tough game Sunday, 31-30, to the Green Bay Packers. They were without their Pro Bowl quarterback Lamar Jackson who was out with an ankle injury. It was the first game in Jackson's career that he has missed due to injury.
In his place, Tyler Huntley led the offense Sunday at quarterback. Huntley played competently in the loss. He threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 73 more yards and two more scores. That is a very Lamar-Jackson type box score. But, the defining play of the game was an errant throw from Huntley to tight end Mark Andrews.
After Huntley has rushed the ball in for a touchdown with under a minute remaining, the Ravens decided to go for the win on a two-point conversion. But Huntley threw the ball to the inside and the pass was broken up.
With the loss, the Ravens fell to 8-6 and out of first place in the AFC North behind the Cincinnati Bengals. After the game, coach Harbaugh talked about the potential for Lamar Jackson to play next week. According to The Athletic's senior staff writer, Jeff Zrebiec, Harbaugh said “he anticipates Lamar Jackson playing next Sunday, but there's not guarantees of that.”
Baltimore faces a critical game next week vs the Bengals. The AFC North is as tight as any division in recent memory. The Bengals and Ravens are 8-6. The Browns are 7-6 and play Monday night. The Steelers are 7-6-1 with their tie coming earlier in the season against the Detroit Lions.
