The Baltimore Ravens have a new running mate in the backfield for franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini, veteran back Mark Ingram has agreed to a three-year, $15 million deal to continue his career in Baltimore.

There was initial optimism from both sides after the season that Ingram and the New Orleans Saints would be able to reach a deal that would keep the 2011 first-round pick where he's played the entirety of his career.

Multiple Saints players, including superstar playmaker Alvin Kamara, even went on social media expressing a desire for Ingram to remain with the Saints.

But talks between player and team reportedly broke down over the weekend, leading to New Orleans agreeing to terms on Tuesday with former Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray on a four-year contract, effectively ending Ingram's tenure in black and gold.

ESPN also reported on Wednesday that the Saints highest offer to Ingram included an annual salary of $4.5 million, half a million dollars less than what he will make the Ravens.

News of strong mutual interest between Ingram and his new team first surfaced on Tuesday. The 29 year old had 138 carries for 645 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games last season, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. He was a Pro Bowler with New Orleans in 2014 and 2017, during the latter of which he scored a career-high 12 touchdowns.

Baltimore was in need of backfield help after releasing Alex Collins following his arrest earlier this month.

Rookie Gus Edwards led the Ravens in rushing last season, totaling 718 yards on a stellar 5.2 yards per carry.
