The Baltimore Ravens will be keeping defender Derek Wolfe with the team, as the two parties have agreed on a three-year, $12 million pact, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic -Baltimore.

At 6'5 and 285 pounds, the 10-year veteran is a relatively lean defensive end. He looks even smaller beside Brandon Williams and Calais Campbell. Nonetheless, he is a force against the run. His level of play is aging like wine and he was a big reason why Baltimore had one of the better run defenses in the league last season, where they conceded an average of 108.8 yards.

In that season, Wolfe had 47 total tackles and a sack. As good as he is against the run, not much can be expected in passing situations, although he did have seven sacks in 2019. This is not an issue though as Wolfe is a 3-4 end.  Losing pass rusher Matt Judon will be a big blow, but the front office has shown time and again their eye for spotting talent in the draft and know-how to develop them.

While signing interior, defensive linemen will almost always be under-the-radar, this deal has the potential to be one of the best value moves this offseason.

From the days of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, the Ravens pride themselves in having elite defenses and that is what they had again last season and most likely the next. Baltimore is once again a contender, but the AFC is so fiercely competitive. Even getting out of their own division with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns is a challenge.
