The Baltimore Ravens ended their 2022 season with a record of 10-7, putting them in second place in the AFC North and sixth place in the AFC. They fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.

The Ravens signed a few key players in the offseason to help strengthen the roster before the start of the 2023 season. They signed wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor, adding to a receiving corps that features Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers. They brought in former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Rock Ya-Sin on a one-year contract in May. Every one of them made the initial 53-man roster the Ravens released on Wednesday.

What are some bold predictions for the Ravens' 2023 season?

4. Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith will be among NFL's best linebacker duos

Smith, who the Ravens acquired from the Chicago Bears in an October trade, earned a Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection during the 2022 season. He recorded 86 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, three pass deflections and one interception during the nine games he played for Baltimore last year. He recorded 16 tackles twice during the 2022 season, once against the Houston Texans in Week 3 and again against the Bengals in Week 18.

Queen earned 100 tackles or more in two of the three seasons he has suited up for Baltimore. The former LSU linebacker ended last season with 117 tackles, peaking at the 12 combined tackles he earned during a Week 11 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Both linebackers must work well together for the Ravens to make another run in the NFL playoffs.

3. Lamar Jackson will hit the 3,000-passing-yard mark

Jackson ended last season with a total of 2,242 passing yards during the 12 games he played for Baltimore last season. The two-time Pro Bowler last hit the 3,000-passing-yard mark in 2019, the year the then-second-year quarterback won the NFL's MVP award by unanimous vote. Jackson came close to hitting the mark again in 2021, when he recorded a total of 2,882 passing yards in 12 games played.

The Ravens hired former Georgia assistant Todd Monken to be their offensive coordinator in February. Monken was a finalist for the Broyles award, given to the best assistant coach in college football, in 2022.

If Jackson can work well in the team's new-look offense and with some of Baltimore's newer options, he may be able to pass for 3,000 yards or more during the 2023 NFL season.

2. At least one Ravens receiver will end the year with 1,000 receiving yards

The Ravens' initial 53-man roster featured six wide receivers. Beckham and Bateman took starting roles on the Ravens' depth chart. Flowers, Agholor, Devin Duvernay and Tylan Wallace rounded out the receiver options on Baltimore's initial roster. Tight end Mark Andrews, who will return for his sixth season in Baltimore, led the Ravens with 847 receiving yards last season.

A talented receiving corps can see at least one player finish the season with 1,000 receiving yards if the Ravens' passing game can get into a consistent rhythm early in their 2023 season.

1. The Ravens will finish with a record of 12-5

The Ravens will face the Bengals and the Los Angeles Chargers in Weeks 11 and 12 before their bye week in Week 13. They will take on the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins in Weeks 16 and 17. Baltimore went 0-1 against Miami and 1-1 against Cincinnati during the 2022 regular season.

The Ravens must jump out to a strong start against Houston in Week 1 before they take on the Bengals in Week 2. If they can win in early games against Cincinnati and Cleveland and tap into the potential of their new offense early, they may have the opportunity to earn their highest win total since the 2019 season.
