The Baltimore Ravens enjoyed a dominant regular season in 2019, posting a 14-2 record and boasting elite units on both sides of the ball. Linebacker Matt Judon played a key role on defense, but he's now a free agent and decisions have to be made regarding his future.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network highlights the possibility of franchise tagging Judon and then trading him later:

Judon enjoyed the best season of his career in 2019. He racked up 54 tackles (14 for loss) to go along with career highs in sacks (9.5) and forced fumbles (4). His 33 QB hits obliterated his old high of 20 as well.

However, Judon's contract is up, and that presents a tough situation. The 27-year-old is entering his first big chance at a contract. As he was a fifth-round pick back in 2016, he'll want to take it.

That means the Ravens will be facing two issues: First of all, they'll need to shell out a lot of cash to keep him on a new deal, and second, they'll be competing with a lot of other teams for his services.

This makes Judon a prime candidate for a franchise tag. The Ravens can tag him and then figure out his long-term future from there. Perhaps there's a trade and Baltimore can wind up getting something for him.
