The Boston Red Sox received outstanding production from utility man Kike Hernandez in the 2021 MLB Playoffs. With that in mind, they're looking to go after one of his ex-Los Angeles Dodgers teammates who is coming off a career-best season. Per MLB.com's Juan Toribio, the Red Sox are interested in Chris Taylor, who was an All-Star in July. He just denied his qualifying offer from LA and is set to hit Free Agency.

The Red Sox aren't the only team who is vying for Taylor's service though. As Toribio noted, the Cardinals, Rangers, Giants, and Marlins are all expected to make a run at the 31-year-old, who hit .254 with 20 home runs and 73 RBI's in 2021. While he is a utility player like Kike, Taylor mostly played in center field and at second base for the Dodgers.

However, he won't come cheap. Taylor's numbers across the last few seasons have skyrocketed and it's expected that he'll be seeking a multi-year deal. The Red Sox tend to like players who can play a variety of positions, but it's unknown if they'd be willing to offer a big contract.

Taylor and Hernandez are both capable of playing center and second base, which makes this an interesting situation. Kike only has one deal remaining on his current deal, though.

One thing is for sure. Chris Taylor is about to get paid this winter, whether he remains in LA, joins the Red Sox, or lands elsewhere.
