Cincinnati Reds' second baseman Jonathan India has been announced the winner of the 2021 Jackie Robinson award for winning the National League Rookie of the Year. India was able to beat Dylan Carlson and Trevor Rogers for the award.

The former University of Florida standout an impressive rookie campaign for the Reds this season. He finished with a 3.9 WAR and slashed .269/.376/.835. India was also able to Belt 21 home runs for the Reds including 69 RBIs and 71 walks.

India is one of the few players that really exceeded expectations this season for the Reds. Cincinnati has a bright future if they can keep Luis Castillo and Joey Votto. They also might look to add players such as Avisail Garcia, Jon Gray, and Trevor Story who would pair nicely next to India up the middle.

The Cincinnati Reds finished 83-79 in the NL Central. This was a disappointing year for the Reds. They expected to make the playoffs and possibly even make a run. They have an interesting future including Jonathan India and Tyler Stephenson. India proved to be the best rookie in the National League and maybe even in all of baseball. Having someone like this that they can build around for the future is definitely something that Cincinnati's front office and their fans are excited about.

The rest of the MLB awards will be announced later in the week.
