Ahead of a three-game series against the division rival Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds received a huge update on ace starting pitcher Luis Castillo, who began the year on the injured list due to shoulder soreness. The Reds- and fantasy baseball managers- will benefit from the huge decision made by the club on Monday, as reported by MLB Trade Rumors.

Luis Castillo will make his season debut on Monday, as the Reds will activate the right-hander from the 10-day injured list to start their game against the Brewers.

Castillo has been activated off of the 10-day injured list and he will make his season debut against the Brewers at Great American Ballpark. Castillo, 29, made three rehab starts for the club, pitching to a 0.87 ERA with a 16:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 10 1/3 innings pitched.

The Dominican Republic native owns a career 40-49 record with a 3.72 ERA and 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings in five seasons. Castillo possesses ace upside in fantasy baseball formats, as evidenced by his All-Star season back in 2019.

It's a bit of a tricky matchup against the Brewers, who have posted the ninth-best team OPS in baseball, though they also own the league's eighth-highest strikeout rate.

Fantasy baseball managers in need of an upside play can turn to Castillo, though there is a decent amount of risk here.
