Adrian Peterson is the running back for the Washington Redskins. You could see why he'd want their superstar left tackle back on the team.

For now though, everyone has to deal with the fact that Trent Williams isn't there. The Redskins have clearly prepared for the situation as they signed Donald Penn as a very solid insurance plan.

Peterson wasn't going down without a fight though. The running back shot his shot with Williams, trying to get him to come back to the team.

Adrian Peterson definitely played this right. He reached out to Trent Williams and let him know how much he'd love to have him back with the team. He left it at that though.

Peterson didn't continuously reach out to Williams and beg him to return. Doing so likely would've just gotten on his nerves. Instead, he let him know how he felt and went on about his business. In the end, Peterson needs to prepare for the season whether Williams is there or not.

He is also extremely careful to not give anything away here. Peterson talks about how he wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come back, but he wouldn't be surprised if he did come back either. That's an expert way of not giving any real information out there. He's even careful to not really give an opinion on which way anyone is leaning. That's about as nothing of a statement as you can get.

Last season, Peterson showed a major career resurgence, rushing for over 1,000 yards. He likely won't get the touches he got last year with Derrius Guice set to return but should still play a solid role in the offense. In fact, his yards per carry could see a spike as he'll be much more rested throughout the year.

One thing's for certain though, Adrian Peterson (and the rest of the Washington Redskins offense) would definitely benefit from having Trent Williams back with the team.
