The Washington Redskins might have just signed offensive tackle Donald Penn, but that doesn't mean Bruce Allen is giving up on Trent Williams.

The team still wants Williams back in the fold, and team president Bruce Allen made that clear recently when speaking to the media, per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“Training camp is going on, we're doing well, and we'd love to have Trent here,” Allen said. “We like Donald – Donald had a good workout,” Allen added. “But we still want Trent.”

Williams, of course, is holding out from the team over issues with Washington's medical staff as well as unhappiness with his contract. Williams is reportedly looking for a trade, but the Redskins aren't going to give him what he wants — at least not easily.

Williams still has two years left on his contract, so he might have a tough time forcing his way out. Penn is about as good a replacement that a team can find this time of year, but he isn't going to be able to fill Williams' shoes.

Williams is one of the league's better tackles, and it'll be a massive loss for the Redskins' offensive line if they have to start the season without him. Penn is 36 now and his play has fallen off a bit, but he should still be capable of filling in if it comes to that.

Washington's O-line was decimated by injuries last year, and losing Williams is the last thing in the world the Redskins needed. The Redskins clearly want him back, but there's still no end in sight for this saga. It'll be very interesting to see who blinks first.
