The Washington Redskins got an early injury scare when they saw starting running back Adrian Peterson leave Thursday’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington in the first quarter due to a shoulder injury, as noted by Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News.

Redskins RB Adrian Peterson has a shoulder injury. Return questionable. He was dealing with shoulder issue at start of week.

Adrian Peterson was initially labeled as questionable to return, but upon further evaluation by Washington’s medical team, was deemed okay to return. Indeed, Peterson was back on the field the following series.

Peterson seemed to have hurt his shoulder while trying to block Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory.

The Redskins have every reason to be careful about Peterson’s health. After all, the future Hall of Famer dislocated his shoulder several weeks back during a 43-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 8. Furthermore, the Redskins have already lost Alex Smith for the rest of the season because of a gruesome lower-body injury the quarterback suffered in last week’s loss to the Houston Texans at home.

The 33-year-old Peterson, who signed a one-year deal with the Redskins back in August, entered the Dallas game with 723 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 171 carries this season.
