The Washington Redskins are looking to end the 2019 NFL season on a high note on the road versus the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, it appears they will be without two of their more integral players on each side of the ball.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, head coach Bill Callahan says wide receiver Terry McLaurin and safety Landon Collins have been ruled out for Week 17.

Redskins’ HC Bill Callahan rules out WR Terry McLaurin and S Landon Collins for Sunday’s game vs. Cowboys.

The decision to sit out McLaurin and Collins should hardly come as any surprise since Washington is not playing for much going into the season finale. While they would certainly love to play spoiler for Dallas, they will still take a cautious approach with their recovery heading into the offseason.

McLaurin suffered a concussion during the 41-35 loss versus the New York Giants in Week 16. The timing of the injury is hardly ideal since he was hoping to put the finishing touches on a stellar rookie campaign. Of course, this is all the more reason for Washington to ensure that he does not suffer any more setbacks.

Meanwhile, Collins has been nursing a shoulder injury he picked up a few weeks ago. The team made quite the investment this offseason by signing him to a lucrative, $84 million deal. He followed it up by surpassing Sean Taylor’s single-season tackling record with 117 in his debut year.

Regardless, it has been another abysmal year in Washington and it is safe to say that fans and players alike may be looking forward to the offseason.
