The Washington Redskins are arguably among the most injury-plagued teams this season. However, the lingering health of tight end Jordan Reed has been a major cause of concern beyond just 2017.

Reed essentially started the year with minor injuries that wound up getting worse as the season went on. As a result, he is done for the year after having been placed on injured reserve, according to the team's extensive injury report on their official Twitter account:

As evidenced by the report, Washington has endured more than its fair share of obstacles this season. However, Reed's durability remains one of the biggest questions heading into the offseason.

The fifth-year tight end out of Florida followed up his Pro Bowl campaign by playing in just six games this year, registering 27 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Once again, he failed to play for an entire NFL season, a feat he's never completed in his career.

When healthy, Reed is one of the elite tight ends in the NFL. His combination of size and speed make him a matchup nightmare anywhere on the field, but particularly in the red zone. However, his inability to stay healthy has deterred both him and Washington's offense from taking that next step.

As a result, the Redskins may have to look for other more consistent options this offseason.
