The Washington Redskins are currently in a crisis. They seem to have kissed their playoff hopes goodbye after suffering another loss Monday to the Philadelphia Eagles. Above all, they've lost a couple of quarterbacks already. They did so in just a span of three weeks.

Their problems seem to have snowballed since their Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans. In that game, starting quarterback Alex Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury that knocked him out for the rest of the season. Colt McCoy took over behind center, but in his second start Monday he injured his leg and was ruled out of the season as well.

Washington is desperately in need of an additional signal-caller. According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, they are working out with a couple of free-agent quarterbacks today, namely Landry Jones and Ryan Mallet. But who the team is actually rooting for is a dual-threat quarterback, Josh Johnson.

Johnson has not seen the field since 2013. In fact, he was primarily a rusher in his last season in the league. But he has one advantage among other potential candidates for the Redskins quarterback job. Johnson had previously worked with Head Coach Jay Gruden.

During his rookie year in 2008, Johnson was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom Gruden served as an offensive assistant. Gruden then became the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator in 2011. They'll be reunited in 2013 after the team signed Johnson.

In six seasons in the league, Johnson has yet to win a game as a starter. He also passed for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns with eight interceptions.
