The Washington Redskins are in need of a new general manager, but Jay Glazer of The Athletic doesn’t foresee them hiring a new one anytime soon.

While answering fan questions in his NFL mailbag, Glazer said that he does not expect the Redskins to hire a general manager until after the draft, saying that they will “work with whoever is in the building.”

Washington fired Bruce Allen from his post as general manager at the end of the season.

Allen initially joined the Redskins in that capacity in 2010, but Washington made just two playoff appearances (both coming via NFC East division titles) and did not win a postseason game during his tenure.

The Redskins went just 3-13 this year and have missed the playoffs four years in a row.

Of course, Washington’s lack of success is hardly limited to the last decade.

Going all the way back to 1993, the Redskins have made just five trips to the postseason and have won only two playoff games, with their last playoff victory coming during the 2005-06 campaign.

Washington has not gone to the postseason in back-to-back years since making it three straight times between 1990-91 and 1992-93, winning a Super Bowl championships during the 1991-92 campaign.

Clearly, the Redskins have been one of the worst franchises in the NFL over the the better part of the last three decades and have regularly been at the bottom of the NFC East, finishing in last place seven times since 2008 and 10 times since the divisions were shrunk to four teams (due to an extra division being added) in 2002.
