The Washington Redskins will look to keep their playoff hopes alive against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving night, but once again, they will be without the services of starting tight end Jordan Reed

On the team's official injury report for the game published Wednesday, Reed was list as out as he continues to deal with a lingering hamstring injury. In Reed's absence, expect Vernon Davis to get the majority of targets at the position, with Niles Paul and Jeremy Sprinkle also getting some action.

Reed has only played in six of Washington's 10 games this season with various injuries; his latest hamstring issue has kept him out the previous three weeks. He suffered the injury early in a Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, a game in which he only made one catch for five yards. The week before, the Florida product scored a pair of touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reed has been quite injury-prone throughout his career, never playing a full 16-game slate during his five years in the league. Davis has picked up his production in 2017; the veteran tight end has 33 receptions on 48 targets for 527 yards, playing in all 10 games for the Skins.

With last week's heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints dropping the Redskins' record to 4-6, Washington might need to win out to reach the postseason in a tightly packed NFC playoff race. As it stands today, the Redskins are currently tied for 11th in the conference with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals, needing to surpass the Cowboys (5-5), Green Bay Packers (5-5), Seattle Seahawks (6-4), Detroit Lions (6-4), and Atlanta Falcons (6-4) for the final wild card spot.

After playing the Giants tomorrow night, Washington's final five games come against the Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and the Giants again.
