Despite some hesitation from the Dallas Cowboys, Dez Bryant finally underwent an MRI on Tuesday. While the results weren't terrible, they were far from ideal.

The test showed that Bryant has a hairline fracture in one his bones in his right knee. Dallas is optimistic that Bryant could play this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, but ESPN's Ed Werder noted that the recovery timetable for this injury is usually 1-3 weeks.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett spoke to the media about Bryant's diagnosis earlier today. From Nick Wagoner of ESPN:

“Dez got his knee evaluated here the last few days,” Garrett said. “He did not practice today and we're hopeful that he'll be able to play. We're taking the situation day by day, hopefully he can do something tomorrow. He has a slight hairline fracture in one of the bones of his knees. We don't think it's something that's going to keep him out for an extended period of time but again it's going to be a day by day, week by week situation.”

The Cowboys are being extremely cautious, keeping Bryant completely off of his knee with crutches. If he responds well to his treatment, Bryant will be on the field in Santa Clara come Sunday.
