Capcom's Resident Evil Village just won Steam's Game of the Year award.

The award, chosen by voting from Steam users, was revealed by Valve today. Games that Resident Evil Village beat out for the title are Valheim, New World, Cyberpunk 2077, and Forza Horizon 5. That's an odd party – none of these, aside from RE8, actually got nominated for TGA 2021's GotY award. Like, where is It Takes Two, even?

In any case, RE8 was a great follow-up on Capcom's reboot of the series, RE7. The recognition is well-deserved as RE8 has been 2021's most polished game, with a product that met the expectations of an increasingly expectant crowd. Resident Evil Village easily fits in on the series' best-selling titles of all time.

Here's to hoping that Capcom's finally ready to show us the DLC they have in store for RE8, a project that they've been working on since E3 2021. Add back Ada Wong, maybe? More vampire ladies? An expanded Mercenaries mode? Multiplayer???
