The Houston Rockets are in full rebuild mode. That doesn't leave much room for a former All-Star recovering from injury like John Wall.
But given John Wall's gargantuan contract, it's tough to find a suitable trade partner willing to take on an unsure quantity being paid superstar money. The Rockets aren't disillusioned by their hand either, as they've reportedly had no takers based on the latest report.
According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, it's looking “increasingly likely” that John Wall is unable to find a home with another team, whether it be via trade or a potential buyout situation. Given that, the Rockets are leaning towards sitting him for the entire year.
Via Doric Sam of Bleacher Report:
“There are no plans for John Wall to play for the Rockets, and it’s becoming increasingly likely that John Wall may not play anywhere in the NBA this season because the cost of his contract right now is just too prohibitive,” said Woj on NBA countdown.

John Wall is currently being paid one of the Top 3 highest salaries in the NBA, with a reported $91 million owed to him through next season. It would take an equally massive deal in return to make a trade possible, but not many stars being paid that much money are on the trading block for anything to materialize.
Wall, by all accounts, has been a leader and role model for the younger faces in the locker room. Even during their down year last season that ended with him getting ruled out with yet another injury, John Wall was reportedly a pseudo-assistant coach for Stephen Silas.
As a respected veteran on the team, his voice is one that will get through to their budding stars like Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. But his salary is a hefty price to pay for a veteran leader who the Rockets plan on sitting out for the time being.
