James Harden explains stare-down of Wesley Johnson

James Harden pulled off one of the most nonchalantly-disrespectful highlight reels of all-time, giving L.A. Clippers forward Wesley Johnson the goods with a guard version of Shawn Kemp’s dunk-and-point from 1992.

The Beard stopped on a dime with his patented step back move, seeing Johnson stumble to the floor, attempting to get back, giving Harden what seemed like an eternity to stare him down and finally knock down the open three.

“I’ve been in my bag all year so… it’s just one of those moves where I had to make him dance a little bit and made the shot,” Harden told ESPN’s Israel Gutierrez after the game.

Asked about the very long staredown of Johnson after collecting his ankles, The Beard was his usual honest self.

“He was looking at me and I was trying to figure out what he was doing, and I just shot it,” he told reporters. “I was gonna shoot it, but I was ready to figure out what was going on, I was confused.”

Harden has taken no prisoners during this season and has been in a savage foray during the Houston Rockets’ 14-game win streak, which has rendered them undefeated for the month of February, hitting their stride and ramping up momentum for a postseason run and holding onto the No. 1 seed at all costs.

While Harden only shot 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, it was that cool and collected 3-pointer that stuck with the home crowd, after seeing him take apart Johnson’s ankle with his ball-handling ability.

No secret passageway can be used by Johnson there to escape a week’s worth of shame courtesy of the internet.
