The NBA won’t rescind the technical foul Houston Rockets superstar point guard Russell Westbrook received on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Westbrook yelled “And-1” after making a layup, and the ref decided to call a technical foul on the Rockets star:

The NBA should have taken this technical away. There’s nothing foul that Westbrook did. Players should be allowed to scream “And-1” after a tough basket. As we all know, Westbrook plays with his emotions on his sleeve. It’s what makes the electric Rockets guard the player he is.

Unfortunately, the NBA decided to keep Westbrook’s 14th technical foul on the books. He’s two away from an automatic one-game suspension.

The Rockets are 38-20 on the season after defeating the Grizzlies. They are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings and have won five games in a row.

In his first season with the Rockets, Westbrook is averaging 27.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists. The former MVP is shooting 47.0 percent from the field, 24.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Westbrook, who averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row coming into this year, has 20 double-doubles and eight triple-doubles on the season. The Rockets are 32-16 with Westbrook in the lineup.

Houston is the only team in the NBA with two MVPs leading the charge. Once the playoffs start, the Rockets will ultimately go as far as Russell Westbrook and James Harden can take them as they lead their super-small-ball revolution.
