The Sacramento Kings have not had very good results the past few seasons. They have continued to miss the playoffs and controversies surrounding their key players and coaches have been presentist. Case and point: the head coach has changed a total of four times in the last three and a half years.

In a Q&A with Sactown Royalty, one of the Kings' more important players, small forward Rudy Gay, recently spoke about the consistent trade rumors he’s faced, the direction of the team, and when the team's problems he thinks all started.

The latter Gay believes began with the departure of their coach from 2013-14, Mike Malone.

“Yeah, I think (Malone leaving) was the start of it. The thing with me, I try to stay out of as much as I can as far as the organization. I try to do what I can control, which is be on the basketball court, but I think at some point you've got to have the players, their futures and what they have at stake in mind when you make decisions and I don't think that happened.”

It can be recalled that he spoke about the firing of his then head coach and clearly showed his feelings for the 45-year-old mentor when he admitted Malone has taught him a lot. Here's the video as posted by the Sacramento Bee back in December 2014.

With all that the University of Connecticut product has said in the interview, it is very clear that he is frustrated with the decisions the Kings have made and does not know the direction they are heading. And with all the trade rumors he's been in, it won't be surprising if his days in Sacramento come to an end in the near future.

If Gay does indeed seek a trade in the future or if the team decides to move him, one thing's for certain: the Kings will be looking to get maximum value in return for one of the league's most versatile small forwards.
