The New York Giants have Eli Manning under center for over a decade. For better and for worse, Payton's younger brother and Archie's son has always been the lesser of the three. Sure, he was able to lead the Giants to a Super Bowl in 2008. But that was more a product of him being in his prime and the Giants great defensive play down the stretch.

The Giants have reportedly been unsure of his future with the team. However, at the very least they do plan on taking a quarterback early on the draft.

The Giants do have the sixth overall pick. They could end up taking Dwayne Haskins or Kyler Murray there, or trade back and select Daniel Jones. Either way, it's more likely that the Giants set their sights on something new rather than paying too much money for a middling veteran.

They don't have a ton of cap space either. Only around 26.2 million, per Over the Cap. That's not enough to keep their core defensive pieces intact and bring on a quarterback on a multi-year deal. Manning is owed $17 million for this upcoming season, and the team would have to find a way to shed that deal as well.

When Manning's agent Tom Condon was asked if he would come back, he seemed optimistic about the chances.

Condon told the New York Post:

“Shoot, yeah, I think so. I think he’d love to come back. Guys love to play their whole careers with one team if they have a good experience with that team.”

The Giants went just 5-11 this past season and finished last in the NFC East.
