Despite having 11 rib fractures, Drew Brees didn't sit down during Week 12 while he was watching the New Orleans Saints take on the Denver Broncos.

Brees, a true student of the game, said his love for football caused him to stand during the entire Saints-Broncos game at his house. The future Hall of Famer had New Orleans' call sheet in his hands and took mental reps.

“I didn’t sit down. I had my call sheet in hand and as the situations would arise, based on what I knew from the week and our conversations last night, just tried to anticipate what was gonna be called,” Saints QB Drew Brees told Mike Nabors, via Pro Football Talk.

“Honestly, just play the game. I love the game, I have a huge vested interest in what’s happening out there, rooting for guys as well. Couldn’t sit still. It was like I was playing the game.”

The Saints easily defeated the Broncos, who were playing without a quarterback. New Orleans is now 9-2 on the season and well on its way to securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

It's still unclear when Brees is going to be back in the Saints' lineup. Until he's cleared to play, Taysom Hill will continue to start at QB. The former BYU star hasn't thrown the ball that well since taking over for Brees, but he does have four rushing touchdowns and the team has defeated the Atlanta Falcons and Broncos.

The Saints will take on the Falcons again in Week 13.
