New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is currently nursing rib fractures, a punctured lung, and an injured shoulder after their Week 10 tilt against the San Francisco 49ers. He was initially expected to be out for only two games until the team placed him on the injured reserve list which now requires him to sit out for a minimum of three games.

According to NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport, a realistic return date for Brees to be able to recover from his injuries and make it back in action could be in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs, which will keep him on the sidelines for four games.

The 41-year-old playmaker suffered numerous injuries against the 49ers. The QB took a hard hit from opposing defensive tackle Kentavius Street, which forced him to be ruled out of the game after halftime.

He exited the field after generating 76 passing yards on 8-of-13 passes completed to go with a passing touchdown. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston was eventually slotted in under center and closed out the encounter with tallies of 63 yards on a 6/10 passing clip. His efforts were enough to successfully conclude the one-sided affair en route to a 27-13 victory for the Saints.

The win bolstered the New Orleans-based squad to a 7-2 record to gain sole possession of the top spot in the NFC South division. Heading into their Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Sean Payton has recently named the versatile Taysom Hill as their temporary starting quarterback over their other gunslinger in Jamies Winston in lieu of Brees' absence.

With Hill at the helm, the Saints are looking to stay afloat while Brees works his way back. Needless to say, the Saints will be needing their best playmaker in Drew Brees fully healthy as they aim for the Super Bowl crown.
