After a wild 24 hours Eli Apple, the newest member of the New Orleans Saints is happy to be with his new team. It's probably the best thing for 2017 first round pick, who had a very rocky tenure in his time in the Big Apple. Multiple times he was at odds with teammates and management and it was clear the two sides were never going to work out.

“It’s a lot of emotions, a wild 24 hours,” Apple said, via Rod Walker of the New Orleans Advocate. “I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to go to work.”

Last year Apple was suspended for the final game of the season after getting into an argument with coaches about being on the scout team during practice. The team announced the suspension as  “conduct detrimental to the team.”

Sean Payton said that isn't something that is of concern to him because they know what kind of player he will be for him.

“I don't know anything about the Giants and the internal workings of that organization now,” said Payton, a former coordinator with the Giants. “It's been however many years since I left. But I do know a lot about ours, and we look forward to having him.”

Apple said he has learned a lot this offseason about focusing on football and that he is working hard to not make the same mistake twice.

“It's all about business,” Apple said. “Sticking to football and working as hard as I can, trying to work on my craft. That's all you can do after last year: continue to learn and make sure you don't make the same mistakes twice.”

Apple will join a secondary filled with former Ohio State Buckeyes teammates and the Saints hope it leads to success.
